Experience the Colorado River!
GROUP OUTINGS & EVENTS
A canoe trip or a camping and canoe trip is an excellent and enjoyable activity for a number of different types of youth and adult organizations. Your outing can include paddling instruction in addition to our normal safety orientation if it is appropriate for your group. Just let us know in advance so we can assign an instructor.
BOY SCOUTS & GIRL SCOUTS: Paddle sports have always been an important part of the Scouting program, and the Colorado River is perfect for Scouting adventures. The
combination of wilderness areas and established campgrounds offers an opportunity to tailor the itinerary to the needs of the group, whether your troop is just starting out on the water or you're looking for a "50-miler."
We are always happy to help you with merit badge requirements, conservation project
suggestions and organization. Just ask. Also, please note our
President's Weekend Youth Special (see Special Events). This gathering is a great chance to learn and have a good time doing it. Some troops earn their Canoeing Merit Badge at this event.
YMCA INDIAN GUIDES, INDIAN PRINCESSES, TRAILBLAZERS and BRAVES: Itineraries
are available for all age groups and paddling combinations. We are anxious to help you structure your Y trip to suit the needs of your group, large or small. The most popular Y trips include picnic lunches and barbecues at the Park.
CHURCH YOUTH FELLOWSHIPS: Perfect for a church youth retreat, the River offers a unique mix of peace and excitement. Many church youth organizations mix the paddle trip with group hiking and camping amid dramatic, awe-inspiring, scenery.
SCHOOLS: A paddle trip on the Colorado River has become a tradition at many schools, often science class related, but sometimes not. School trips usually involve at least one night of camping and meal preparation, but some folks just come for the day-trip. Paddling Topock Gorge has become a popular side trip for school groups on their way to or returning from Havasupai or Grand Canyon.
CORPORATE EVENTS: This is a great place and a great activity for team-building and other corporate
experiences. Whether you are looking for a setting conducive to planning and program development or simply a recreational experience, let us help you plan the appropriate combination of sites and
services you need to set the stage for achieving your objective. The options are many - meals, accommodations, paddling itineraries, camp facilities - these can be combined in a variety of trips that will enhance the experience for your group.
OUTDOOR CLUBS: Topock Gorge and Black Canyon have long been favorites for Sierra Club chapters, nature clubs, archaeological, geological, museum and wilderness groups because of the beauty and serenity of these areas as well as the abundance of historic sites and smooth water. We offer services to small and large groups, and we are happy to customize itineraries and services to meet your group needs.
CHURCHES, TEMPLES & FELLOWSHIPS: Colorado River canoe trips have proven
to be the foundation of many successful and rewarding church and temple fellowship activities. Let us help you develop the outing and combination of services and activities that is right for your singles fellowship, couples group or family activity group. We'll help you put together a program with just the right structure so everyone can have a good time, and no one is "stuck" doing all the work.
